Values

Life and Lovely Things is guided by 5 key values.

My values look a little different in business than in personal life, because, well, blog posting and putting bandaids on “hurts” require different skill sets, but they are fundamentally the same. And, as you might have guessed, they all stem from Love.

1. Love: I am not so arrogant as to think I can describe something so indescribable as Love (or any of its qualities I most value) but I use words to point to my experience of it. Love is the energy that springs from feeling the soul of ALL that is and recognizing it as our own. It is what we find when we pull away everything and are left with essence – the essence of ourselves, of others, of wind in trees and fireflies, of the houses that hold our lives, the songs and stories that resonate, the things we hate only because we have not yet discovered the truth of those things.

2. Beauty: Beauty is Love in physical form, experienced through our bodies. I aim for aesthetically stunning and meticulously executed work to create an experience that fills women with wonder, ignites emotion, and pleases the senses. I seek inspiration from the beauty all around me and from the beautiful environments in which I live and create. Finally I point out the beauty in every day and prioritize depth of experience in life. I do this so we do not take any of it for granted and are inspired to fully experience our lives as they are happening.

3. Truth: When Love is perceived by the mind, it comes to life as insights, ahas, and moments of clarity. From a higher perspective, Love is the ultimate truth. It is unafraid to show itself. It also sees the truth of others and all else and moves to allow it. In practice, I ensure my communication is as honest as my own self-awareness will allow. I search for the insights and connections that allow me to inspire the women I serve. I honor what is real in myself, others, and all else; am present for each encounter I have; and create with an eye toward community and authentic, honest connection. Finally, I advocate for getting into real life (responsible social media practices, anyone?).

4. Self-Expression: Love strives toward the fullest expression of itself, moving forward toward authentic desire and necessarily resulting in growth and evolution. For me, self-expression involves becoming aware that I am already in Love with Life and attuning to it; prioritizing presence, intuition, and listening again and again; sensing the wonder, feeling my life, moving with it, and responding as appropriate. My self-expression also involves learning from life, experiencing new things, and anchoring my understanding. Finally, my self-expression includes sharing my particular magic and aiming for a spirit of joy and play and Love as I do. I created this business - as much a practice in being in Love for me as I hope it is for the women I serve - as a channel for self expression and devotion. What does your authentic self-expression look like?

5. Freedom: Freedom is in all the ways we allow Love to be. It is in the ability to pursue full expression unhindered by physical or mental constraints. In practice, this might include prioritizing wellness and rest; being smart with resources, including money, time, energy, and the reserves of our planet; sharing content about how societal structures might allow more freedom; continuing education to increase skillset; sabbaticals; or simply creating space to be delighted.
